It cooks the rice and steams the vegetables well. One nice detail is when you take out the rice bowl from the middle, it switches to idle mode, making sure you don't leave your rice cooker on a high temperature on accident. I was also worried about this rice cooker being too large because it is about a foot by a foot, but it fits under my sink or in my pantry closet perfectly. Overall, if you are looking for a basic rice cooker that works well for a cheap price, this is the rice cooker for you. It doesn't do anything fancy (it only has two modes: on and off), but it does the job.
